Here, we revise Pietraszewski's model of groups by assigning participant pairs with two triplets, denoting: (1) the type of game that models the interaction, (2) its critical switching point between alternatives (i.e., the game's similarity threshold), and (3) the perception of strategic similarity with the opponent. These triplets provide a set of primitives that accounts for individuals' strategic motivations and observed behaviors.

Background
While taxonomy segregates anxiety symptoms into diagnoses, patients typically present with multiple diagnoses; this poses major challenges, particularly for youth, where mixed presentation is particularly common. Anxiety comorbidity could reflect multivariate, cross-domain interactions insufficiently emphasized in current taxonomy. We utilize network analytic approaches that model these interactions by characterizing pediatric anxiety as involving distinct, inter-connected, symptom domains. Quantifying this network structure could inform views of pediatric anxiety that shape clinical practice and research.
MethodsParticipants were 4964 youths (ages 5–17 years) from seven international sites. Participants completed standard symptom inventory assessing severity along distinct domains that follow pediatric anxiety diagnostic categories. We first applied network analytic tools to quantify the anxiety domain network structure. We then examined whether variation in the network structure related to age (3-year longitudinal assessments) and sex, key moderators of pediatric anxiety expression.
ResultsThe anxiety network featured a highly inter-connected structure; all domains correlated positively but to varying degrees. Anxiety patients and healthy youth differed in severity but demonstrated a comparable network structure. We noted specific sex differences in the network structure; longitudinal data indicated additional structural changes during childhood. Generalized-anxiety and panic symptoms consistently emerged as central domains.
ConclusionsPediatric anxiety manifests along multiple, inter-connected symptom domains. By quantifying cross-domain associations and related moderation effects, the current study might shape views on the diagnosis, treatment, and study of pediatric anxiety.

The genus Narcissus L. (Amaryllidaceae) provides a model system to study the evolution and maintenance of sexual polymorphisms. In this study, we characterized microsatellite markers for N. dubius, N. cuatrecasasii, N. assoanus and N. rupicola for studies of genetic diversity and paternity analyses to investigate the stability of stylar dimorphism. We proved 40 new primer pairs from a genomic library of N. papyraceus and 12 microsatellite markers characterized also for N. papyraceus in a previous study (52 primer pairs overall). Twenty markers amplified, but their transferability and variability were different among species. Polymorphism was tested at least on 74 individuals and one population per species. The number of polymorphic loci per species ranged from four to eight. The number of alleles per locus ranged from two to 19 and the observed heterozygosity and gene diversity, from 0.107 to 0.729 and 0.103 to 0.894, respectively. These markers can be used for studies of genetic diversity and paternity analyses among individuals of N. dubius, N. cuatrecasasii, N. assoanus and N. rupicola to study the stability of stylar dimorphism.

Suicide risk assessment is now a core competency requirement in the residency training of psychiatrists. The purpose of suicide risk assessment is to identify modifiable or treatable acute, high-risk suicide factors, and available protective factors that inform patient treatment and safety management. The standard of care varies according to state statutory definitions. Heretofore, most states adopted an average physician or “ordinarily employed standard.” Currently, more states are adopting a “reasonable, prudent physician” standard. No single source or authority defines the standard of care for suicide risk assessment. Evidence-based psychiatry can inform clinicians' suicide risk assessments. Carefully documented risk assessments will assist the courts in evaluating clinicians' decision-making process.

Summary
INTRODUCTION
During inflammation and thrombosis, signaling cascades result in activation of platelets, endothelial cells (ECs), and leukocytes. The complex interaction between these vascular cells is influenced by cell adhesion and by production of soluble stimulatory or inhibitory molecules that alter cell function. The net effect of this tridirectional “cellular cross talk” on thrombosis and inflammation depends on the balance between inputs and can lead to resolution and repair or perpetuation of inflammation and thrombosis. The specific aim of this chapter is to highlight the important role that platelets play in inflammation. Emphasis is placed on recent advances delineating molecular pathways that allow platelets, leukocytes, and ECs to “cross talk” in a coordinated fashion in the normal state and in inflammatory and thrombotic conditions. Major topics include the inflammatory mediators produced by platelets, the molecular interactions between platelets and ECs and platelets and leukocytes, and the role of platelets in facilitating leukocyte adhesion and transmigration through the blood vessel wall. Clinical implications of basic science research are outlined in each section.
At first glance, platelets are critical components of hemostatic pathways that prevent blood loss at sites of vascular injury. More careful examination, however, reveals that platelets are also inflammatory cells that regulate the initiation and progression of inflammatory processes and thereby link inflammation and thrombosis.

Objective:
To study the incidence of tuberculosis (TB), tuberculin skin testing (TST) practices, and infection control practices at outpatient hemodialysis centers.
Design:Mail surveys performed in December 1994 and 1995.
Main Outcome Measures:The numbers of patients with incident active TB during 1994 and 1995, TST policies during 1994, and TB infection control policies in 1994.
Setting:All outpatient dialysis centers in New Jersey.
Patients or Participants:Healthcare workers and patients in dialysis centers in New Jersey.
Results:Of 47 centers, 41 provided information on TST and TB infection control policies and practices. TSTs were performed on newly hired healthcare workers at all 41 centers and on established workers at 39 centers. In contrast, only 1 center reported performing TSTs on hemodialysis patients; 5 other centers reported screening of patients for TB using chest radiographs. Active TB was reported in 3 of 4,550 chronic hemodialysis patients in 1994 (rate, 66/100,000 patient-years) and in 4 of 4,831 patients in 1995 (rate, 83/100,000 patient-years). Both rates were several times higher than the rate in the New Jersey general population during this period (10.7-10.8/100,000).
Conclusion:Although based on small numbers of patients with TB, we found a relatively high incidence of TB among hemodialysis patients in New Jersey. Most centers reported performing TSTs on workers but not on patients. These results suggest the need for improved TB screening and infection control precautions at outpatient dialysis centers.
