Objective:
This study assesses misconceptions about coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine and the factors associated with misconception among Jordanians.
Methods:A cross-sectional online survey was conducted. The survey was formulated on Google Forms, and was hosted on an online platform. These questions were created based on extensive review of online information about the vaccines. Frequencies and percentages (%) were used for categorical variables, while means and standard deviations (SDs) were used for continuous variables. Stepwise binary logistic regression was conducted to evaluate variables associated with participant’s misconception questions.
Results:Of 1195 survey respondents who participated in the study, 41.3% had received the COVID-19 vaccine. The mean misconception score was (60.0 ± 19.1). The statement with the highest mean was “The vaccine hasn’t been tested on enough people” (3.6 ± 1.0). The statement with the lowest mean was “The COVID-19 vaccine includes a microchip to control us” (2.2 ± 1.1) in the conspiracy theory portion. Females, 18- to 29-age group, higher educational level, living in a city, the participants who took lectures about the COVID-19 vaccine and vaccinated participants had higher odds of being in the low misconception level group.
Conclusion:Targeted campaigns and vaccine safety information should be part of a broader health education campaign to alleviate vaccination safety concerns.

Strong associations between neural tube defects (NTDs) and monozygotic (MZ) twinning have long been noted, and it has been suggested that NTD cases who do not present as MZ twins may be the survivors of MZ twinning events. We have recently shown that MZ twins carry a strong, distinctive DNA methylation signature and have developed an algorithm based on genomewide DNA methylation array data that distinguishes MZ twins from dizygotic twins and other relatives at well above chance level. We have applied this algorithm to published methylation data from five fetal tissues (placental chorionic villi, kidney, spinal cord, brain and muscle) collected from spina bifida cases (n = 22), anencephalic cases (n = 15) and controls (n = 19). We see no difference in signature between cases and controls, providing no support for a common etiological role of MZ twinning in NTDs. The strong associations therefore continue to await elucidation.

A 3-yr study was conducted in Wheatland County, Alberta to determine if agronomic practices of growers influenced the occurrence of herbicide resistance in wild oat. Wild oat seeds were collected in 33 fields in 1997 and in 31 fields in each of 1998 and 1999 (one field per grower). Seedlings were screened for resistance to two acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACCase) inhibitors, imazamethabenz, an acetolactate synthase (ALS) inhibitor, and triallate, a thiocarbamate herbicide. A questionnaire on herbicide resistance awareness and management practices was completed by each grower. Both ACCase and ALS inhibitor resistance in wild oat were linked to a lack of crop rotation diversity. In addition, ALS inhibitor–resistant wild oat was associated with conservation-tillage systems and recent use of herbicides with that mode of action. Results of this study suggest that timely tillage and inclusion of fall-seeded and perennial forage crops in rotations will effectively slow the selection of resistance in this grass species.

Summary
ABSTRACT
In recent years, gene knock-out studies have greatly expanded understanding of the molecular basis of drug reward and drug addiction. One of the consequences of these studies has been to produce a more pluralistic view of the underlying neurochemical mechanisms that mediate drug reward after the development of a strongly dopamine-centered view in the 1980s. This is not to say that dopamine does not have a central role in drug reward and drug addiction, but rather a fuller examination of these mechanisms involves the complex neurocircuitry of which dopamine systems are a part. This view is not new, but has been expressed from a variety of perspectives. Gene knock-out studies have indicated a particular approach to examining the nature of interactions between different parts of this circuitry. This chapter will focus on the role of serotonin, and in particular the serotonin transporter (SERT), in drug reward. This more pluralistic perspective became apparent in gene knock-out studies of the rewarding effects of drugs of abuse which demonstrated that deletion of the dopamine transporter (DAT) did not eliminate the rewarding effects of cocaine, and subsequent findings that implicated a critical role of SERT in a variety of circumstances. These studies also validated the central role of dopamine in drug reward, and consequently the role of SERT must be considered largely from the point of view of interactions with dopamine systems.
