Originally published in 1958, this book provides a comprehensive study of Cambridge University during the Reformation and the broader impact of religious reform in Tudor England. Life within the University is presented as a lens through which the broader alliances and conflicts of the Tudor age can be viewed. As stated in the introduction, 'The story is that of the Reformation in England, told from a certain angle'. The text is divided into three main sections: 'Humanists, Reformers and Exiles'; 'The Puritans and Authority'; and 'The Universe of Grace'. A detailed bibliography is also included.
