Summary
Most children will have PE at school as part of the curriculum, starting from Early Years until Year 11. Outside of school, many children will be involved in a sport or some form of physical exercise although not all share the same enthusiasm! There are a number of activities given below to get children and families active. Many organisations have produced resources that can be used at home. In addition, there are resources for students and teachers devising PE lesson plans and these too could be used at home. There are also some resources for PE activities with children with special educational needs or who need extra help through disability.

Summary
See also: Drama and Theatre Studies; Books, reading and stories
There is no shortage of resources for help with the English language, however this proliferation can often make it difficult to find the right materials. English in itself is a huge subject area and not simply a collection of over one million words. It is ever evolving, with new words added to its dictionary every year and new literature being created by authors, poets, playwrights and all manner of wordsmiths on a daily basis. The aim of this section is to inspire children and young people with resources that stimulate creativity and engage the imagination as well as provide access to understanding the principles of the English language.
The areas covered are: English Grammar; English Language and Literacy for Primary; English Language and Literacy for Secondary; Writing Skills for Primary; Writing Skills for Secondary; English Literature; Authors and their Books; Plays; Poetry and Comics. Within each, there are learning resources from a variety of sources. Both the Writing Skills and the Poetry sections bring together creative writing activities from an eclectic mix of museums, galleries and organisations and provide a wide range of writing ideas and styles to use either at home or within the classroom – from letter writing as an evacuee to diary writing as a passenger on the SS Great Britain, from Haiku poetry to Words That Burn.

Summary
This book is about resources specifically for individual subjects or topics, however, there are a few resources worth mentioning that cover a whole range of subjects and that are used widely by children and young people. They are excellent onestop shops for all subjects.
The fantastic BBC Bitesize (www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/learn) covers all subjects studied at Primary, Secondary and Post 16+ level within all four nations. It allows you to select Primary, Secondary or Post 16+ and then within each level select the year group (key stage). For each key stage within each level, every subject is listed, including all subjects specific to the Northern Ireland, Scottish and Welsh curriculums. There are lessons for each subject with videos, quizzes and activities. Not only is this a must for learning but invaluable for revision, offering GCSE students a mechanism for self-testing. In addition to its impressive coverage, its clear layout and its ease-of-use make it accessible to all ages and abilities. It is highly recommended to every student (and parent and educator too!). There is also the BBC Teach facility offering 1000s of free curriculum-mapped videos, arranged by age-group and subject. Not only a great resource for teachers but for all educators.
Equally impressive is Oak National Academy(www.thenational.academy), the online classroom made by teachers, for teachers. It has free, high-quality video lessons and resources that are available throughout 2020/21. It has 10,000 lessons and resources available covering a wide range of subjects, from Early Years Foundation Stage to Year 11. Each of the classroom lessons is usually 60 minutes long and delivered by a teacher, using a pre-recorded video along with quizzes, worksheets and activities. Like BBC Bitesize, it is easy to use with access available to everyone.
Twinkl (www.twinkl.co.uk) is a teacher-created site and includes teaching resources, lesson planning and assessment materials. It covers Primary resources, Secondary resources and resources for parents home-schooling. It is extensive in coverage and the resources offered, requiring a simple registration to have access to the free downloads, and includes all subjects within the school curriculum.
Quizlet (www.quizlet.com) is another excellent resource that offers 1000s of tools to help children and young people learn.
