Mental health conditions, recognised as a global crisis, were further exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Access to mental health services remains limited, particularly in low-income regions. Task-sharing interventions, exemplified by Problem Management Plus (PM+), have emerged as potential solutions to bridge this treatment gap. This study presents an evaluation of the PM+ scale-up in Sub-Saharan Africa (Ethiopia and Benin) and Eastern Europe (Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina) as part of a mental health and psychosocial support programming including 87 adult participants. A mixed-method approach assesses the impact of the intervention. Quantitative analyses reveal significant reductions in self-reported problems, depression, anxiety and improved functioning. Qualitative data highlight four main themes: general health, family relationships, psychosocial problems and daily activities. These thematic areas demonstrate consistent improvements across clients, irrespective of the region. The findings underscore the impact of PM+ in addressing a broad spectrum of client issues, demonstrating its potential as a valuable tool for mitigating mental health challenges in diverse settings. This study contributes to the burgeoning body of evidence supporting PM+ and highlights its promise in enhancing mental health outcomes on a global scale, particularly for vulnerable populations.

Objectives
The aim of the present cross-sectional study was to investigate the associations between caregivers’ attachment styles, family functioning, the care setting and pre-loss grief symptoms, the burden, and the caregivers’ belief of patients’ awareness of the terminal cancer diagnosis.
MethodsA total of 101 caregivers of patients with terminal cancer in residential hospice care and home care were interviewed and completed self-report questionnaires.
ResultsInsecure attachment style and home care setting were associated with worse psychological effects in caregivers of patients with terminal cancer. Moreover, family cohesion can promote low social burden and the patient’s awareness of their terminal condition.
Significance of resultsThis study highlighted the importance of evaluating the caregiver’s attachment style, family functioning, and the setting of care during the terminal phase of the patient’s life. These findings will be useful to planning interventions to prevent burden and the pre-loss grief symptoms in the caregivers.

Background
Alcohol use disorder (AUD) and schizophrenia (SCZ) frequently co-occur, and large-scale genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have identified significant genetic correlations between these disorders.
MethodsWe used the largest published GWAS for AUD (total cases = 77 822) and SCZ (total cases = 46 827) to identify genetic variants that influence both disorders (with either the same or opposite direction of effect) and those that are disorder specific.
ResultsWe identified 55 independent genome-wide significant single nucleotide polymorphisms with the same direction of effect on AUD and SCZ, 8 with robust effects in opposite directions, and 98 with disorder-specific effects. We also found evidence for 12 genes whose pleiotropic associations with AUD and SCZ are consistent with mediation via gene expression in the prefrontal cortex. The genetic covariance between AUD and SCZ was concentrated in genomic regions functional in brain tissues (p = 0.001).
ConclusionsOur findings provide further evidence that SCZ shares meaningful genetic overlap with AUD.

One of the main areas of improvement in capacitive deionization technologies is the materials used for electrodes which have very specific requirements. In the present work, a wide range of material characterization techniques are employed to determine the suitability of a multiwall carbon nanostructure thin film as electrode material. The electrical, mechanical, surface and wetting characteristics are studied proving the membrane highly conductive (σ=7.25 103 S/m), having competitive electro-sorption capacity (11.7 F/g at 10 mV/s) and surface area (149 m2/g), strain rate dependent mechanical properties and hydrophobic wetting behavior.

We present a species checklist, characterizing the ichthyofaunal composition of four coastal archipelagos in waters off the metropolitan area of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Data were obtained from ~120 h of underwater observations, published and unpublished information, including new species records. A total of 197 fish species (78 new records), belonging to 130 genera and 61 families, were observed. The family Carangidae (17) dominated in number of species, followed by Labridae and Serranidae (10 each), Epinephelidae and Scaridae (9 each). Most species are distributed along the tropical western Atlantic (51.8%) or on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean (20.5%). A minor part is endemic to Brazil (9.7%) or range to temperate rocky reefs of Patagonia (6.7%). Fourteen species are threatened, according to the IUCN, and listed under the Brazilian Ministry of the Environment red list (6.6%). Despite an increment of fish species listed herein, and the recent establishment/creation of a Marine Protected Area (Monumento Natural das Ilhas Cagarras—MoNa Cagarras), research efforts are clearly needed along these archipelagos, as nearshore environmental threats increase due to lack of regulatory practices.

A novel structure for Organic Thin-Film Transistor (OTFT) is here presented. The devices are fabricated using a one-mask, photolithographic self-alignment technique which can be performed with standard photoresists and without further chemical treatments. This technique, combined with a novel technology for the realization of low voltage OTFTs, allows a dramatic reduction of the parasitic capacitances thus leading to a remarkable cut-off frequency. In this paper, the main electrical parameters of low voltage, self-aligned devices are reported, and a complete frequency characterization of the devices is given. These characteristics make the reported approach suitable for the development of basic circuitries for frequency applications.
