Summary
The purpose of this text is to present a symplectic approach to Arnold diffusion problems, that is, the existence of orbits of perturbed integrable systems along which the action variables experience a drift whose length is independent of the size of the perturbation. We choose to focus on the construction of orbits drifting along chains of cylinders, taking for granted the existence of the chains. We however give a rather complete description of these chains, together with some elements on their symplectic features and some main ideas to prove their existence. We adopt the setting introduced by John Mather to prove the Arnold conjecture for perturbations of Tonelli Hamiltonians, which we see as the appropriate one to set out the various (and numerous) problems of the construction, and give some ideas to show how the symplectic approach may enable one to enlarge its scope.

Background
Migration has been reported to be associated with higher prevalence of mental disorders and suicidal behaviour.
AimsTo examine the prevalence of emotional and behavioural difficulties, suicidal ideation and suicide attempts among migrant adolescents and their non-migrant peers.
MethodA school-based survey was completed by 11 057 European adolescents as part of the Saving and Empowering Young Lives in Europe (SEYLE) study.
ResultsA previous suicide attempt was reported by 386 (3.6%) adolescents. Compared with non-migrants, first-generation migrants had an elevated prevalence of suicide attempts (odds ratio (OR) 2.08; 95% CI 1.32–3.26; P=0.001 for European migrants and OR 1.86; 95% CI 1.06–3.27; P=0.031 for non-European migrants) and significantly higher levels of peer difficulties. Highest levels of conduct and hyperactivity problems were found among migrants of non-European origin.
ConclusionsAppropriate mental health services and school-based supports are required to meet the complex needs of migrant adolescents.

Euclid is a Europe-led cosmology space mission dedicated to a visible and near infrared survey of the entire extra-galactic sky. Its purpose is to deepen our knowledge of the dark content of our Universe. After an overview of the Euclid mission and science, this contribution describes how the community is getting organized to face the data analysis challenges, both in software development and in operational data processing matters. It ends with a more specific account of some of the main contributions of the Swiss Science Data Center (SDC-CH).

In the context of a stylised game theoretical framework of capital tax competition, we show that when repeated policy interactions are associated to a systematic punishment of the deviating policymaker, a co-ordinated outcome can be the solution to the non co-operative tax game. This result suggests that explicit forms of policy co-ordination, such as a centralised tax authority, could in fact be largely unnecessary.

Does intra-national migration matter for partner choice? A number of conflicting hypotheses on the effects of migration on the likelihood of endogamy according to social class of origin are formulated and tested on the French historical record over the past two centuries. We conclude that migrants were less likely to marry endogamously, especially if they migrated from rural villages to cities; this is explained mainly by the fact that they thereby escaped the social pressure of their parents and peers and met more people from different social backgrounds. Contrary to what we expected, the relationships between migration characteristics and endogamy changed hardly at all over the two centuries. We also investigated whether temporal differences in endogamy could be explained partly by changes in migration patterns. We found that they could. The increase in the number of men and women living in or moving to cities was one particularly important cause of the decreasing likelihood of endogamy. Finally, we were interested in the possible bias in regional studies on endogamy. Our results show that this bias is especially large if these regions include only rural areas or cities. This is because the likelihood of endogamy differs between rural areas and cities, and is also especially low for people who move between these two types of region.

We construct examples of Gevrey non-analytic perturbations of an integrable Hamiltonian system which give rise to an open set of unstable orbits and to a special kind of symbolic dynamics. We find an open ball in the phase space, which is transported by the Hamiltonian flow from $-\infty$ to $+\infty$ along one coordinate axis, at a speed that we estimate with respect to the size of the perturbation. Taking advantage of the hyperbolic features of this unstable system, particularly the splitting of invariant manifolds, we can also embed a random walk along this axis into the near-integrable dynamics.
