During the initial surge of the COVID-19 pandemic in the spring and summer of 2020, paediatric heart centres were forced to rapidly alter the way patient care was provided to minimise interruption to patient care as well as exposure to the virus. In this survey-based descriptive study, we characterise changes that occurred within paediatric cardiology practices across the United States and described provider experience and attitudes towards these changes during the pandemic. Common changes that were implemented included decreased numbers of procedures, limiting visitors and shifting towards telemedicine encounters. The information obtained from this survey may be useful in guiding and standardising responses to future public health crises.

Background
Studies suggest that alcohol consumption and alcohol use disorders have distinct genetic backgrounds.
MethodsWe examined whether polygenic risk scores (PRS) for consumption and problem subscales of the Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT-C, AUDIT-P) in the UK Biobank (UKB; N = 121 630) correlate with alcohol outcomes in four independent samples: an ascertained cohort, the Collaborative Study on the Genetics of Alcoholism (COGA; N = 6850), and population-based cohorts: Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children (ALSPAC; N = 5911), Generation Scotland (GS; N = 17 461), and an independent subset of UKB (N = 245 947). Regression models and survival analyses tested whether the PRS were associated with the alcohol-related outcomes.
ResultsIn COGA, AUDIT-P PRS was associated with alcohol dependence, AUD symptom count, maximum drinks (R2 = 0.47–0.68%, p = 2.0 × 10−8–1.0 × 10−10), and increased likelihood of onset of alcohol dependence (hazard ratio = 1.15, p = 4.7 × 10−8); AUDIT-C PRS was not an independent predictor of any phenotype. In ALSPAC, the AUDIT-C PRS was associated with alcohol dependence (R2 = 0.96%, p = 4.8 × 10−6). In GS, AUDIT-C PRS was a better predictor of weekly alcohol use (R2 = 0.27%, p = 5.5 × 10−11), while AUDIT-P PRS was more associated with problem drinking (R2 = 0.40%, p = 9.0 × 10−7). Lastly, AUDIT-P PRS was associated with ICD-based alcohol-related disorders in the UKB subset (R2 = 0.18%, p < 2.0 × 10−16).
ConclusionsAUDIT-P PRS was associated with a range of alcohol-related phenotypes across population-based and ascertained cohorts, while AUDIT-C PRS showed less utility in the ascertained cohort. We show that AUDIT-P is genetically correlated with both use and misuse and demonstrate the influence of ascertainment schemes on PRS analyses.

Summary
Executive Summary
The Global Energy Assessment (GEA) emphasizes the importance of energy to all societies, which explains a longstanding tendency for governments to be closely involved in the energy sector. The nature and extent of this involvement – the degree and types of energy-related policies – depends on a government's ideological orientation, the particular energy resource endowment in its jurisdiction, the development level of its economy, and specific concerns of its society with respect to energy access, energy security, and the environmental and human health impacts of energy supply and use.
In every country, energy's critical role for the goal of sustainable development is widely acknowledged. This means that energy-related policies need to be assessed in terms of performance with respect to the social, economic, and environmental dimensions that are encompassed by the concept of sustainable development. Ideally, energyrelated policies will make advances with respect to all three of these critical sustainability dimensions. But frequently policymakers are faced with difficult trade-offs in which improvement in one dimension is at the cost of another. Thus, the first goal of energy-related policy design should be to seek win-win opportunities for simultaneously advancing social, economic, and environmental goals. When this is not possible, the goal should be to apply decision-support mechanisms that integrate diverse social objectives and values into the policy design process, such as the application of multi-criteria analysis as described by Munasinghe (1992; 2009).

1. Triticum aestivum ssp. vulgare variety Chinese Spring (2n = 6x = 42) is susceptible to yellow rust caused by Puccinia striiformis while the wild annual grass Aegilops comosa (2n = 14) is resistant to all the physiologic races for which it has been tested.
2. By a backcrossing programme initiated from Chinese Spring × Ae. comosa hybrids, using Chinese Spring as the recurrent parent, a line was isolated with a single chromosome of Ae. comosa, determining rust resistance, added to the full complement of Chinese Spring.
3. The alien chromosome substituted with good genetic compensation only for the chromosomes of homoeologous group 2 of Chinese Spring. This demonstrated that the chromosome determining rust resistance is in homoeologous group 2. It was designated 2M since Ae. comosa has the M genome.
4. In order to induce recombination between 2M and its wheat homoeologues, hybrids were made using Ae. speltoides which has the capacity to suppress the activity of chromosome 5B that normally prevents homoeologous synapsis. A backcrossing programme, using Chinese Spring as the recurrent parent, was reinitiated from the 29-chromosome hybrids carrying chromosome 2M and the haploid complements of Chinese Spring and Ae. speltoides.
5. Selection was practised for rust resistance and ultimately a resistant plant with 42 chromosomes, that formed 21 bivalents at meiosis, was isolated. This plant was heterozygous for a dominant rust resistance allele (Yr8) derived from Ae. comosa. Homozygotes were isolated in its progeny and in this way the rust resistant breeder's variety, Compair, was established.
6. Compair differs from Chinese Spring in its yellow rust resistance which was shown to be determined by a chromosome corresponding to 2D of Chinese Spring. This chromosome of Compair has the short arm, the centromere and a proximal segment of the long arm of chromosome 2M and a distal segment of the right arm of chromosome 2D. The modified chromosome, which is designated 2M/D, arose by homoeologous recombination in the Ae. speltoides hybrid or in the immediately succeeding backcross generations. Chromosome 2M/D carries the Yr8 gene in the proximal segment of the long arm derived from chromosome 2M.
7. In hybrids between Compair and standard wheat varieties, chromosome 2M/D pairs regularly with chromosome 2D so that regular segregation of Yr8 can be expected and Compair treated like any other parental variety in wheat hybridization programmes.
8. This work illustrates the way that homoeologous recombination can be induced and exploited both in cytogenetic analysis in wheat and in practical breeding work. The nature of the meiotic synapsis of chromosome 2M/D with its partial homologues raises questions concerning the means by which chromosome 5B influences the specificity of meiotic synapsis.

The Hooper Visual Organization Test (VOT), a commonly applied neuropsychological test of visual spatial ability, is used for assessing patients with suspected right hemisphere, or parietal lobe involvement. A controversy has developed over whether the inferences of this test metric can be assumed to involve global, lateralized, or regional functionality. In this study, the characteristic visual organization and object naming aspects of the VOT task presentation were adapted to a functional MR imaging (fMRI) paradigm to probe the neuroanatomic correlates of this neuropsychological test. Whole brain fMRI mapping results are reported on a cohort of normal subjects. Bilateral fMRI responses were found predominantly in the posterior brain, in regions of superior parietal lobules, ventral temporal-occipital cortex, and posterior visual association areas, and to a lesser extent, the frontal eye fields bilaterally, and left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex. The results indicate a general brain region or network in which VOT impairment, due to its visuospatial and object identification demands, is possible to be detected. Discussion is made of interpretive limitations when adapting neuropsychological tests to fMRI analysis. (JINS, 2004, 10, 939–947.)

Current X-ray diffraction techniques intended for “ideally imperfect” specimens provide structure factors only on a relative scale and ever-present multiple scattering in strong low-angle Bragg reflections is difficult to correct. Multiple scattering is implicit in the quantitative convergent beam electron diffraction (QCBED) method, which provides absolutely scaled structure factors. Conventional single crystal X-ray diffraction has proved adequate in softer materials where crystal perfection is limited. In hard materials, the highly perfect nature of the crystals is often a difficulty, due to the inadequacy of the conventional corrections for multiple scattering (extinction corrections). The present study on α-Al2O3 exploits the complementarity of synchrotron X-ray measurements for weak and medium intensities and QCBED measurement of the strong low-angle reflections. Two-dimensional near zone axis QCBED data from different crystals at various accelerating voltages, thicknesses, and orientations have been matched using Bloch-wave and multislice methods. The reproducibility of QCBED data is better than 0.5%. The low-angle strong QCBED structure factors were combined with middle and high-angle extinction-free data from synchrotron X-ray diffraction measurements. Static deformation charge density maps for α-Al2O3 have been calculated from a multipole expansion model refined using the combined QCBED and X-ray data.

Cu-AlN direct bonds were made by the gas-metal eutectic method. Two kinds of AlN substrates from different suppliers were used for the research. The AlN surfaces were preoxidized in O2 at three different temperatures. An optional “anneal” in Ar was applied following the oxidation procedure. Two processes were used for the bonding.
The bond strengths and the failure modes were found to depend on the substrate used, the pretreatment of the AlN and bonding conditions. There was an optimum thickness for the Al2O3 layer on the AlN surface. High temperature annealing in Ar was demonstrated to effectively promote bond strength. The highest peel strength measured was 50 N/cm.
A thermal expansion mismatch between Al2O3 and AlN was considered to be the main factor which dominated the ultimate bond strength. This mismatch resulted in a residual stress in the Al2O3 layer. A measurement by XRD indicated a 300 MPa tensile stress existed in the surface Al2O3 after AlN oxidation. This made Al2O3/AlN the weakest interface and limited the bond strength rather than the eutectic bond.

The incorporation of molybdenum into the faujasite pore system via reaction of MoCl5 with H-Y zeolite results in dealumination of the zeolite framework and formation of MoO3 species. These species are readily sulfided by H2S, but MoS2 clusters are not produced. A sulfur-bridged dimeric molybdenum cluster, of proposed composition HO-Mo-(S)3-Mo-OH, is formed, which can strongly chemisorb CO. Sulfidation of niobium in this manner is not readily accomplished.
