Objective:
To examine the feasibility of implementing a cardiorespiratory exercise stimulus during functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI).
Participants and Methods:12 young adults (age: 18-22 years) completed progressive maximal exercise testing and a brain MRI scan. During scanning, participants completed three runs of functional MRI (volumes = 619; TR = 800 ms; multiband = 4; voxel size = 3 mm3). During each 8 minute fMRI run, participants completed an exercise challenge consisting of alternating blocks of exercise and rest. Exercise was implemented with a cardiostepper, an MRI-compatible device (similar to a Stairmaster) capable of generating a cardiorespiratory exercise stimulus. During exercise blocks, participants stepped at a rate of 60 Hz with pedal resistance determined by participants' fitness level. Heart rate and respiration data were collected during MRI. fMRI data were processed and analyzed using FMRIB Software Library (FSL). The ARtifact Detection Toolbox (ART) software was also used to identify volumes with significant artifact, and ICA-AROMA was used to remove motion-related BOLD signal components.
Results:During exercise blocks, heart rate increased (mean = 131 beats per minute) compared to rest (mean = 87 beats per minute; t(34) = 4.3; p < .001). The mean heart rate during exercise blocks corresponds to an exercise intensity in the light to moderate intensity range for this age group. Motion (median framewise displacement) was significantly higher during exercise (mean = .53 mm) than rest (mean = .36 mm). Across all blocks, ART classified 19.8% of brain volumes as artifact-containing outliers, with 69% of the outliers occurring during exercise blocks. Although greater head motion was observed during exercise, the use of ICA-AROMA reduced the impact of motion considerably, recovering an additional 25% of the task-related signal, relative to noise. Comparison of fMRI activity during exercise versus rest revealed significant associations with primary and supplementary motor cortices, hippocampus, and the insula, among other regions.
Conclusions:The current study demonstrates the feasibility of eliciting light to moderate intensity cardiorespiratory exercise (using a lower body stepping exercise) during functional MRI. Although increased head motion was observed during exercise compared to rest, the degree of head motion was roughly approximate to the values published in previous fMRI studies and post image acquisition processing improved task-related signal. During exercise, increased brain activation was observed in regions associated with the central command network, which regulates autonomic nervous system and musculoskeletal function during exercise.

Introduction
There is emerging evidence of heterogeneity within treatment-resistance schizophrenia (TRS), with some people not responding to antipsychotic treatment from illness onset and a smaller group becoming treatment-resistant after an initial response period. It has been suggested that these groups have different aetiologies. Few studies have investigated socio-demographic and clinical differences between early and late onset of TRS.
ObjectivesThis study aims to investigate socio-demographic and clinical correlates of late-onset of TRS.
MethodsUsing data from the electronic health records of the South London and Maudsley, we identified a cohort of people with TRS. Regression analyses were conducted to identify correlates of the length of treatment to TRS. Analysed predictors include gender, age, ethnicity, positive symptoms severity, problems with activities of daily living, psychiatric comorbidities, involuntary hospitalisation and treatment with long-acting injectable antipsychotics.
ResultsWe observed a continuum of the length of treatment until TRS presentation. Having severe hallucinations and delusions at treatment start was associated shorter duration of treatment until the presentation of TRS.
ConclusionsOur findings do not support a clear cut categorisation between early and late TRS, based on length of treatment until treatment resistance onset. More severe positive symptoms predict earlier onset of treatment resistance.

SPARC is being designed to operate with a normalized beta of $\beta _N=1.0$, a normalized density of $n_G=0.37$ and a safety factor of $q_{95}\approx 3.4$, providing a comfortable margin to their respective disruption limits. Further, a low beta poloidal $\beta _p=0.19$ at the safety factor $q=2$ surface reduces the drive for neoclassical tearing modes, which together with a frozen-in classically stable current profile might allow access to a robustly tearing-free operating space. Although the inherent stability is expected to reduce the frequency of disruptions, the disruption loading is comparable to and in some cases higher than that of ITER. The machine is being designed to withstand the predicted unmitigated axisymmetric halo current forces up to 50 MN and similarly large loads from eddy currents forced to flow poloidally in the vacuum vessel. Runaway electron (RE) simulations using GO+CODE show high flattop-to-RE current conversions in the absence of seed losses, although NIMROD modelling predicts losses of ${\sim }80$ %; self-consistent modelling is ongoing. A passive RE mitigation coil designed to drive stochastic RE losses is being considered and COMSOL modelling predicts peak normalized fields at the plasma of order $10^{-2}$ that rises linearly with a change in the plasma current. Massive material injection is planned to reduce the disruption loading. A data-driven approach to predict an oncoming disruption and trigger mitigation is discussed.
A randomized controlled trial of an internet-delivered treatment: Its potential as a low-intensity community intervention for adults with symptoms of depression

Introduction
Internet-delivered treatments for depression have proved successful, with supported programs offering the potential for improved adherence and outcomes. Internet interventions are particularly interesting in the context of increasing access to interventions, and delivering interventions population-wide.
ObjectiveInvestigate the potential feasibility and effectiveness of an online intervention for depression in the community.
AimsEstablish the effectiveness of a supported online delivered cognitive behavioural intervention for symptoms of depression in adults in the community.
MethodsThe study was a randomized controlled trial of an 8-module internet-delivered cognitive behavioral therapy (iCBT) program for adults with depressive symptoms (n = 96) compared to a waiting-list control group (n = 92). Participants received weekly support from a trained supporter. The primary outcome was depressive symptoms as measured by the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI-II). The program was made available nationwide from an established and recognized charity for depression.
ResultsFor the treatment group, post-treatment effect sizes reported were large for the primary outcome measure (d = 0.91). The between-group effects were moderate to large and statistically significant for the primary outcomes (d = 0.50) favoring the treatment group. Gains were maintained at 6-month follow-up.
ConclusionThe study has demonstrated the efficacy of the online delivered space from depression treatment. Participants demonstrated reliable and statistically significant changes in symptoms from pre- to post-intervention. The study supports a model for delivering online depression interventions population-wide using trained supporters.

Limitations of access have long restricted exploration and investigation of the cavities beneath ice shelves to a small number of drillholes. Studies of sea-ice underwater morphology are limited largely to scientific utilization of submarines. Remotely operated vehicles, tethered to a mother ship by umbilical cable, have been deployed to investigate tidewater-glacier and ice-shelf margins, but their range is often restricted. The development of free-flying autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) with ranges of tens to hundreds of kilometres enables extensive missions to take place beneath sea ice and floating ice shelves. Autosub2 is a 3600 kg, 6.7 m long AUV, with a 1600 m operating depth and range of 400 km, based on the earlier Autosub1 which had a 500 m depth limit. A single direct-drive d.c. motor and five-bladed propeller produce speeds of 1–2 m s−1. Rear-mounted rudder and stern-plane control yaw, pitch and depth. The vehicle has three sections. The front and rear sections are free-flooding, built around aluminium extrusion space-frames covered with glass-fibre reinforced plastic panels. The central section has a set of carbon-fibre reinforced plastic pressure vessels. Four tubes contain batteries powering the vehicle. The other three house vehicle-control systems and sensors. The rear section houses subsystems for navigation, control actuation and propulsion and scientific sensors (e.g. digital camera, upward-looking 300 kHz acoustic Doppler current profiler, 200 kHz multibeam receiver). The front section contains forward-looking collision sensor, emergency abort, the homing systems, Argos satellite data and location transmitters and flashing lights for relocation as well as science sensors (e.g. twin conductivity–temperature–depth instruments, multibeam transmitter, sub-bottom profiler, AquaLab water sampler). Payload restrictions mean that a subset of scientific instruments is actually in place on any given dive. The scientific instruments carried on Autosub are described and examples of observational data collected from each sensor in Arctic or Antarctic waters are given (e.g. of roughness at the underside of floating ice shelves and sea ice).

The capacity of Acanthocheilonema viteae to metabolize fructose was investigated in vitro. In common with other filarial species A. viteae oxidized fructose to lactate but its rate of consumption was only 40% of the glucose-containing control value. Fructose was not incorporated into glycogen. Release of 14CO2 from [U-14C]fructose was not detected in the presence of glucose and was about 40% of the glucose-containing value under conditions where fructose was the sole hexose substrate. Fructose consumption and lactate excretion increased in proportion to the external concentration of fructose. However, worm viability was not maintained in fructose over a 120 h in vitro incubation. In the presence of fructose, protein synthesis (measured incorporation of [35S]methionine into acid-insoluble material) was reduced compared to the glucose-containing control group; but was significantly greater than the value obtained under glucose-free conditions.
In-Vivo Degradation of a Poly(Propylene-Fumarate) Biodegradable, Particulate Composite Bone Cement

We have developed a biodegradable particulate composite bone cement consisting of a poly(propylene glycol-fumarate)-(methylmethacrylate) matrix mixed with calcium carbonate and tricalcium phosphate particulates. Previous ex-vivo studies suggest that this system provides sufficient strength for a number of potential clinical applications including structural reinforcement of osseous defects, supplementation of internal fixation of age-related fractures, and delivery of antibiotics to treat osteomyelitis. Ex-vivo degradation assays have also shown that the cement approximates physiologic conditions of bone remodeling as it degrades. In order to evaluate the in-vivo responses to this material, we implanted cement specimens subcutaneously in rats for up to 84 days. Compressive strength of the subcutaneous implants increased linearly through day 21 to 4.91 MPa, then decreased linearly by day 84 to less than 1 MPa. We conclude that this PPFMMA system is biocompatible and biodegradable, and has the potential for use as an orthopedic bone cement. Future studies will be directed toward characterizing the intraosseous histological response and at coordinating the rate of cement degradation with bony ingrowth.
