Cambridge Books Online reaches 20,000 titles

Cambridge University Press’s flagship Academic eBook product, Cambridge Books Online (CBO), has reached the landmark figure of 20,000 uploaded titles, just three years to the day after its initial launch.
Within a fully responsive and feature-rich environment, CBO provides universities and research institutions with access to over 13,000 humanities and social science titles and almost 6,000 scientific and medical titles. These titles cover over 30 subject areas, which can in turn be broken down into more than 400 individual sub-disciplines.
At the individual subject level, CBO contains over 2,700 history titles with over 2,500 politics and international relations titles. The medicine list encompasses over 1,000 titles within 26 disciplines, alongside almost 1,200 life science titles.
Library managers have the ability to purchase content through a number of purchasing plans, such as the perpetual access model, approval plans, advanced ordering or subscription. They are also able to pick and choose titles as they need (minimum purchase of 25 titles) across any subject area. Most CBO titles are available via unlimited multiple concurrent usage with some coursebooks/textbooks available via limited concurrency.
An advanced search facility allows readers to navigate across results from both Cambridge Books Online and Cambridge Journals Online (CJO).
In addition to reaching the 20,000 landmark, January 2013 also saw the launch of a CBO redesign, creating a refreshed look and feel, as well as improved and streamlined navigation. 2013 is set to continue to be an exciting year, with plans afoot for new business models and unique and wide-ranging title updates.
