MRS Bulletin to debut new Impact section for original research
MRS Bulletin, now in its 45th year of serving the materials research community, is the flagship publication of the Materials Research Society. With its monthly themes, overview articles, research news, and other relevant content, it serves and informs the MRS membership as well as the broader materials community. The journal is now set to expand its offerings in a new Impact section that will begin to publish select, high-profile original research articles in 2020.
In an editorial published in the January 2020 issue titled New horizons for MRS Bulletin, editor Gopal R. Rao and the new Impact editor Markus Buehler (MIT) lay out the rationale, opportunities, and the promise of the new section. The Impact section will include a premium selection of new, original, and important research that demonstrates a significant impact or advance of scientific understanding of exceptional interest to the materials research community. We seek to “publish the most innovative materials research work that will capture the minds and attention of researchers around the world and provide fundamental insights in all fields of materials research and related disciplines.”
There is great support for the new Impact section from MRS leadership, staff, and volunteers. Importantly, we need the support of the materials community to make MRS Bulletin a better and more Impactful publication! We invite your feedback on how we might make MRS Bulletin a more valuable resource.
