Experimental Results publishes its first papers
Experimental Results is an open access journal providing a forum for findings that disclose the small incremental steps vitally important to experimental research; experiments and findings which have so far remained hidden. All articles are subject to open peer review via an innovative scorecard, where publication is based on whether an experiment has been correctly conducted and addresses a valid research question.
We’re delighted to publish our first papers in Experimental Results – as all papers are published open access, they are freely accessible to all.
Here we provide a brief summary of our first publications:
- Saccharide sources do not influence the biofilm formation in Scedosporium/Lomentospora species
Scedosporium and Lomentospora species were able to form biofilm, in similar amounts, when conidial cells were incubated in a polystyrene substrate containing Sabouraud medium supplemented or not with different concentrations of glucose, fructose, sucrose and lactose - Crassostrea virginica dredge efficiency in Texas estuaries
Comparing sampling densities of oysters (Crassostrea virginica) estimated by oyster dredges with more accurate estimates taken by diver-quadrat samples to determine a dredge efficiency rate, in order to provide more realistic estimates of oyster densities and allow more accurate stock assessments and comparisons among studies and regions. - New tools for the visualization of glial fibrillary acidic protein in living cells
Human glial fibrillary acidic protein (hGFAP) was tagged with an enhanced green fluorescent protein (EGFP) for the first time, and a previously reported EGFP tag on mouse GFAP (mGFAP) substituted by a more versatile Halo Tag. These new tools could provide new fruitful venues for the study of GFAP oligomerization, aggregation and dynamics in living cells. - Long-term cultivation using ineffective MDM2 inhibitor concentrations alters leukaemia cell drug sensitivity profiles
12 sublines were cultivated of the intrinsically MDM2 inhibitor-resistant TP53 wild-type acute myeloid leukaemia cell line PL21 for 52 passages in the presence of ineffective concentrations of the MDM2 inhibitor nutlin-3 but did not observe loss-of-function TP53 mutations. Unexpectedly, many sublines displayed increased sensitivity to the anti-cancer drugs cytarabine, doxorubicin, or gemcitabine. - Psychometric concerns with the 10-item Autism-Spectrum Quotient (AQ10) as a measure of trait autism in the general population
Analysing the effectiveness of the 10-item Autism-Spectrum Quotient as a diagnostic screening tool for autism in adults
