NEW launch from Cambridge in 2023: Journal of Financial Literacy and Wellbeing

Cambridge University Press (CUP) is pleased to announce the launch of a new international gold open access journal, the Journal of Financial Literacy and Wellbeing. The journal will publish its first issue in association with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and George Washington University. The first journal dedicated to this vital and rapidly growing field, the Journal of Financial Literacy and Wellbeing will publish rigorous research that informs the work of public policy and the private sector, with the ultimate objective of improving financial security and resilience. This includes research on the various elements of financial literacy, capability and wellbeing and their relationships and determinants. The journal will feature theoretical and empirical work on measuring and assessing financial wellbeing, including how this varies between different groups (e.g. differences and inequalities on the basis of gender, race, class etc.) and the impact this has on both personal finances and wider economic development. Experimental evidence on the effects of financial education in schools and the workplace will also be included, and the journal will seek to inform the inclusion of personal financial education in public policy.

The journal will publish three issues a year, online only and fully gold open access. The editors encourage and support the publication of scholarship from across the globe, considering a full range geographical focus, from advanced economies to developing and emerging economies.

Editor-in-Chief Annamaria Lusardi says: “I am very excited to be the editor of this new journal and I look forward to working with Cambridge University Press to make it a success and the best reference for the most innovative and rigorous research on financial literacy and well-being.”

Fellow Editor-in-Chief Flore-Anne Messy adds: “The creation of a journal on financial literacy and wellbeing at Cambridge University Press is a long awaited and very much welcomed initiative by a large range of public, private and civil society stakeholders with a view to promoting further rigorous research on a now essential research and policy field.”
