Dinosaurs, Propellers and Hiding Objects

A robot that swims like a dinosaur, simulations of industrial mixing, and how to hide an object by controlling its wake – take a sneak peek at the latest in fluid dynamics research. Featuring interviews with researchers from the APS-DFD 2017 conference discussing their work on bio-inspired underwater vehicles, numerical simulations of boundary flow and controlling the wake produced by a flexible tail.

This video is part of an ongoing series as part of a collaboration between the Journal of Fluid Mechanics and FYFD. Sponsored by FYFD, the Journal of Fluid Mechanics, and the UK Fluids Network. Produced by Tom Crawford and Nicole Sharp with assistance from A.J. Fillo.
