Announcing – Wearable Technologies

Cambridge University Press is pleased to announce a major new open access journal, Wearable Technologies, the first journal dedicated to publishing original research and industrial developments related to wearable devices.

Wearable Technologies is the Press’s most unique Open Access journal in an extensive list of engineering and computer science journals. Wearable technologies have a role in areas such as rehabilitation, industry, environment/exploration, injury prevention, military, diagnostics, animals, sport and leisure and this journal aims to connect research from all areas of wearable technologies. The focus of this journal will be on the design, control and mechanics of wearable technologies. Topics will include (but are not limited to), exoskeletons, exosuits, prosthetics, intelligent orthotics, soft wearable robotics, development of new wearable sensor technologies and wearable monitors, mechatronics, human-computer interaction, human in the loop optimization and physical human robot interactive controllers.

The Editor-in-Chief of Wearable Technologies is Professor Sunil Agrawal, who has developed a highly visible interdisciplinary program in rehabilitation robotics involving faculty from School of Engineering and Applied Sciences and College of Physician and Surgeons at Columbia University. The international Editorial team includes recognised leaders in mechanical engineering, bioengineering, rehabilitation and regenerative medicine, neuroprosthetics and human-oriented robotics from around the world who investigate the future of robotics at the convergence of biology and engineering.

Professor Agrawal said, “I am delighted to announce the launch of Wearable Technologies. Over the past few years, we have seen a surge of interest in wearable technologies and devices. This is a very exciting time in the field. I am delighted to be involved in this new journal which is the first dedicated to this topic. I look forward to working with a distinguished Editorial Board and researchers who bring a wealth of expertise and knowledge to the journal.”

Mandy Hill, Managing Director of Academic Publishing at Cambridge University Press added, “We are very excited to launch Wearable Technologies. Our aim is to publish high-quality research, bringing together all aspects of the field. By facilitating discussion and encouraging the dissemination of ideas Wearable Technologies will become an excellent resource of knowledge in this fast-growing area of research.”

Wearable Technologies will be hosted on Cambridge’s industry-leading platform, Cambridge Core. The Journal will benefit from a range of the latest author services including article level usage metrics and Altmetric data.
