Cambridge University Press to publish the Law & Society Review
Cambridge University Press and the Law & Society Association (LSA) are excited to announce that, beginning in January 2024, Cambridge University Press will publish the Association’s prestigious journal the Law & Society Review (LSR).

Founded in 1966, LSR is recognized worldwide as a leading peer-reviewed journal in the field of sociolegal studies. LSR publishes a wide range of pieces exploring the relationship between society and the legal process. Broadly interdisciplinary, the LSR welcomes work from any tradition of scholarship concerned with the cultural, economic, political, psychological, or social aspects of law and legal systems.
LSR will be part of one of the largest programs in sociolegal studies of any publisher. It will sit on the Cambridge list alongside Law & Social Inquiry, the International Journal of Law in Context, the Canadian Journal of Law and Society, the Asian Journal of Law and Society, Law and History Review and many other respected journals as well as Cambridge’s long-running book series ‘Cambridge Studies in Law and Society’ and ‘Law in Context’.
Cambridge University Press Executive Publisher for law journals Rebecca O’Rourke said “We have been growing our program in law and society for some time and are absolutely delighted to be able to bring in the leading association in this subject area as a publishing partner. We are proud to have been selected as this outstanding journal’s publisher and look forward to working with the LSA and its editorial team to ensure the journal continues to offer a world-class venue for sociolegal research.”
Law & Society Association Executive Officer Steven Boutcher commented “Cambridge University Press shares with the LSA a commitment to furthering sociolegal research and is the natural choice to support us as we move into the future and seek to ensure the breadth of LSR’s publishing reflects the diverse range of subjects and methodologies covered by LSA’s extensive membership.”
From January 2024 LSA members will have automatic access to the journal and its archive on the Cambridge webpages via their member login on the LSA webpages.
