Why? Well, because just about everyone knows how important the skill is to help them get on in the world. But equally, for many, public speaking is a secret dread.

That’s also why we devote a significant amount of time to the art both in the course and in the book. We very much appreciate the need.
So here we go with a knowledge check on the shiveringly scary subject of public speaking, presenting and performing.
One final point for this section, on the importance of performance. Many people worry about their voice when presenting. I’ve often heard concerns such as:
