Relational Ontologies and Multispecies Worlds: Transdisciplinary Possibilities for Environmental Education

Guest Editors: Kathryn Riley (University of Manitoba), Scott Jukes (Federation University), and Pauliina Rautio (University of Oulu)

The Special Issue "Relational Ontologies and Multispecies Worlds: Transdisciplinary Possibilities for Environmental Education" (Volume 40, Issue 2) called for rigorous theorisation combined with intensive empirical inquiry that is situated within focused practices and multispecies assemblages. The Guest Editors sought modes of inquiry that think with materiality and other species in the process of tackling the wicked problems of these ecologically and socially precarious times. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with 16 articles making it into the issue. Given the insightful explorations and diversity of worlds the various authors explored, the Guest Editors wanted to provide the opportunity for authors to give further immersion into the multispecies worlds of the various research contexts. The hope was that this could provide and affective and evocative insight beyond the traditional text of academic research. The result is this collection of video synopses created by the authors of articles within the Relational Ontologies and Multispecies Worlds special issue.
