Equality Before the Law in India

Extract

The Constitution of the Republic of India came into operation on January 26, 1950. The doctrine of equality before the law is contained in Article 14 of the Constitution which declares:

“The State shall not deny to any person equality before the law or the equal protection of the laws within the territory of India.”
