Tamsin is an expert in AMR and oversees the UK’s national programmes of AMR surveillance in animals, alongside a portfolio of related research. Tamsin has led a substantial expansion of the UK’s surveillance of AMR in animals, working with governmental and non-governmental partners to generate crucial new evidence on AMR in livestock, fish, dogs, and cats. She is constantly seeking to improve the way data is generated and utilised to support evidence-based policy-making around AMR, particularly in veterinary medicine and One Health.

Tamsin qualified as a veterinarian at the University of Melbourne, and has masters degrees in infectious disease control and epidemiology from the Royal Veterinary College and Imperial College London, respectively. Her PhD, also from the Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology (DIDE) at Imperial, focused on mathematical and statistical modelling of the associations between antimicrobial use and resistance in different populations.

Dr Emilie Glad Bak

Emilie Glad Bak is a translational scientist and entrepreneur with over fifteen years of experience spanning gut microbiome and virome systems biology, the microbiome-AMR interface, and the end-to-end development of microbiome-based therapeutics and food technology. She holds an MSc in Engineering and Biotechnology from the Danish Technical University and a PhD in Health and Medical Sciences from the University of Copenhagen's Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research. Early in her career she collaborated with the Statens Serum Institut on novel vaccine development and genome-based typing methodologies for bacterial pathogens. Her industry career includes roles at SNIPR Biome in CRISPR-based AMR therapeutics and at Novonesis, where she led translational innovation strategy across multiple health categories and represented the company at the WHO and the UN Business Council on AMR-related initiatives. She is co-founder and CSO of Mastitia, where she leads the scientific and regulatory strategy to develop biotic-based solutions targeting the bacterial pathogens driving lactational mastitis — a common and undertreated condition with significant implications for antibiotic use in new mothers. She also advises biotech organisations through her consultancy GladBakBio on R&D strategy, clinical trials, and regulatory navigation.

Dr Chantal Morel

Chantal Morel is a health economist specialising in antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Her research focuses on quantifying the economic burden of AMR and evaluating interventions that can reduce its impact on health systems and society.

She examines strategies at the point of prescribing—such as incentives to improve stewardship—in both human and animal health settings, aiming to optimize antibiotic use and slow the spread of resistance.

Her work also explores new financing and structural arrangements to strengthen innovation in the antibiotic pipeline, with the goal of producing better products, improving surveillance of resistance, and expanding sustainable use measures across health systems.

In addition, Chantal advocates for policies that increase equitable access to antibiotics in regions where current supply does not meet clinical needs, contributing to a more resilient global response to AMR.

Dr Reshma Silvester

Dr Reshma Silvester is an EPSRC Digital Health Hub Fellow and Postdoctoral Research Officer in Environmental Microbiology at Bangor University, where she leads research on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) surveillance across clinical, environmental, and agricultural settings in Wales. Her current work mainly focuses on wastewater-based epidemiology, integrating advanced metagenomics to track pathogens and antimicrobial resistance trends in diverse environments.

She previously contributed to the UK Pathogen Surveillance in Agriculture, Food and Environment (PATH-SAFE) Programme, which monitored foodborne pathogens and AMR from farm to fork, as well as to the Welsh Government’s National Wastewater AMR Surveillance Programme. She also worked with the One Health Trust on global mapping of AMR in food-producing animals and humans in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).

A microbiologist by training, Dr Silvester has nearly 15 years of experience in AMR research spanning food, animal, environment and human sectors. She holds a B.Sc. in Microbiology, an M.Sc. in Applied Microbiology, and a Ph.D. focused on AMR in Vibrio from seafood and marine environments. Her career has consistently centred on AMR, and she is committed to advancing One Health-based AMR surveillance and contributing to global efforts to mitigate the AMR crisis.
