The False Cocoon of Hyposoter parorgyiae (Vier.) (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae)

Extract

Hyposoter parorgyiae (Vier.) (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae), a parasite that emerges from the mature larva of Parorgyia plagiata (Wlk.) (Lepidoptera: Liparidae), was found to have a false cocoon. The twelve specimens examined were collected in Ontario and Quebec, and are in the Canadian National Collection, Ottawa, Ontario.
