page 387 note 1 Among the prae-Alexandrian writers who contribute variants to the text we have to reckon, beside Plato, Aristotle, Aeschines, and Lycurgus, not only Dioscurides the disciple of Isocrates (adds I 119 o), but Chrysippus the Stoic. Chrysippus, whose name occurs frequently in the Homeric scholia (see Bekker's index), is quoted by Galen, de plac. Hipp, et Plat. (ed. I. Müller, 1874) iii. 114 sq.
