Nitrogen adsorption on synthetic akaganeite and its structural implications

Abstract

Comparison of the adsorptive properties of two samples of akaganéite prepared by different methods shows that a structural scheme based upon solid rods is much more likely than a previously proposed scheme involving tubes. Specific surface areas, qualitative and quantitative assessments of porosity' and electron micrographs strongly support this structure.

La comparaison des propriétés adsorptives de deux échantillons d'akaganéite préparés à l'aide de méthodes différentes montre qu'un plan structurel basé sur des tiges solides est beaucoup plus probable qu'un plan proposé précédemment comprenant des tubes. Les zones de surface spécifiques, les évaluations qualitatives et quantitatives de la porosité et des micrographes à électrons étayent solidement cette structure.

Ein Vergleich der Adsorptionsmerkmale von zwei nach verschiedenen Methoden präparierten Akaganeitproben erweist, dass ein auf festen Stäbchen beruhendes Strukturbild viel wahrscheinlicher ist als ein früheres Bild, unter Vorassetzung von Röhrchen. Spezifische Oberflächenbereiche, qualitative und quantitative Beurteilungen der Porosität und Elektronen-Mikrogramme sprechen sehr für diese Struktur.

La comparación de las propiedades adsortivas de dos muestras de akaganéite preparadas por métodos distintos demuestra que un plan estructural basado en barras macizas es mucho más probable que un plan propuesto anteriormente a base de tubos. Las superficies especificas y las evaluaciones cualitativas y cuantitativas de la porosidad y las micrografias electrónicas apoyan fuertemente esta estructura.
