The American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) Annual Meeting
Wednesday 18th November, from 9:00-10:15am PST
If you are registered for the AIChE Annual meeting, join us for events linked to two newly launched, open access journals in engineering:
In a panel discussion (“Challenges and opportunities for data science in chemical engineering”), leading researchers from industry and academia will discuss how recent advances in data science methodologies can be applied to real-world chemical processes and industry. How can we leverage these technologies to make our chemical processes more efficient, profitable, environmentally friendly, and safe? What are the new avenues of research that combine chemical/process engineering and data science?
Speakers include:
- Francisco Navarro-Brull (Industrial Data Scientist at Solvay)
- Oscar Mendez Lucio (Research Scientist, Artificial Intelligence for Drug Design, Janssen Pharmaceutical)
- Costas Pantelides (Managing Director at Process Systems Enterprise Ltd and Professor of Chemical Engineering, Imperial College London)
- Maria Jose Nieves Remacha (Senior Research Scientist at Eli Lilly)
- Ruth Misener (Professor in Computational Optimisation at Imperial College London)
The discussion is chaired by Omar Matar (Imperial College London; Executive Editor of the Data-Centric Engineering journal) and was organised by Antonio del Rio Chanona (Imperial College London).
In a separate talk, Juan G. Santiago (Stanford University and Editor-in-Chief of Flow) will introduce Flow: a new, open access translational journal that focusses on the applications of fluid mechanics to technology, natural, and medical sciences, and descriptions of the physical world.
