In this second lecture I review some of the practical considerationsassociated with developing and implementing ground-basedinterferometry at optical and near-infrared wavelengths. Familiaritywith these logistical concerns is relevant not only for understandinghow arrays such as the VLTI actually operate but also for identifyingthe most important questions that need to addressed when planning acampaign of interferometric observations. I outline some of thestrategies that have been adopted to address these issues and point tosome areas ripe for future development.
