Extract

1. Polycarboxylic and hydroxycarboxylic acids as well as pyrophosphoric acid form complexes with manganic manganese which are soluble over a wide pH range.

2. It is suggested that such complex formation may be of importance in maintaining manganese in an available form in soils.
