Samoan Pronominalization

Abstract

Constraints on pronoun-antecedent relationships in complex, coordinate, and simplex structures of Samoan are investigated. Three modifications of linguistic theory are proposed to account for the Samoan data. Fillmore’s ‘case grammar’ model is used for the descriptive framework.
