The issue before you includes research from around the world on questions that are core to law and society research. The empirical cases explored in these papers also hold relevance to current events, including food safety, the impact of legal reforms, bases of legal legitimacy, access to public benefits, workers' rights, and support for moral regulation.

This issue goes to press a few weeks late, held up by the challenges and complications created for so many by a global pandemic. We are grateful to reviewers who have continued generously to provide input and insight for authors. Submissions have slowed somewhat this spring. In 2019, Law & Society Review received 315 new manuscripts, while in the first half of 2020 we received 110 new submissions. We know that many people's work has been delayed, and we look forward to reading those manuscripts when you are able to send them.
