Abstract

Microstructures of PEEK|PEKK blends at both structural and lamellar levels were studied using simultaneously time-resolved small-angle and wide-angle x-ray scattering (SAXS and WAXS) with synchrotron radiations. Lamellar dimensions and unit cell parameters were determined, and phase separation within the blends were observed. A suitable two-phase growth model is proposed. It is concluded that when crystallized from the melt, PEEK and PEKK lamellae formed in separate lamellar bundles within a common spherulite.
