Titania-alumina composites were carried out by various methods. Thecomposite prepared by mixed gelation method showed the merits of both γ-Al2O3 and TiO2 (anatase), and itbehaved much better than the γ-Al2O3 alone as thecarrier of HDS catalyst or H2S adsorbent. Another representative compositewas prepared by sol-gel method. The hydroxide of aluminium alkoxide waspeptised directly with TiCl4 to form TiO2-Al2O3 composite sol, and then thecomposite membrane without support was obtained. The sizes of primaryparticles were around 5nm as characterised by TEM.
