Call for Social Media Editor

We are seeking a Social Media Editor to work on a flexible basis (7-8 hours per month) to improve our social media presence.

Network Science is an interdisciplinary journal published by Cambridge University Press aiming to consolidate and advance the emerging discipline of the same name. Recognizing an ever-increasing relevance across domains, the journal is focused on inspiring applications of network approaches, rigorous theory building, and innovative methods. As of 2024, Network Science will be published on an open-access basis, which will give us a new opportunity to share insights with a wider audience.

We are looking for someone creative with good communication skills to improve our presence on social media, which currently consists of a Twitter/X account (@nws_journal). We'd like someone capable of develop our presence there by posting new articles and announcements, and on other platform too.  

The Social Media Editor will have contact with the Editorial Board, and the Publisher (Andrew Hyde) and Marketer at Cambridge University Press. 

An interest in Network Science would be advantageous - this might suit someone doing a PhD or postdoc in the field - but not essential.

We can provide a small annual payment:

Person specification 

  • Holds a degree in field relevant to network science (desirable)
  • Strong knowledge of social media platforms, especially but not limited to Twitter and LinkedIn (essential)
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written (essential)
  • Design skills: the ability to identify, edit and adapt images for effective social media use (essential)
  • Interest in science writing and blogs (desirable)
  • Familiarity with pre-prints and Open Research trends (desirable)

Candidates should be collaborative with strong organisational skills and good attention to detail. Flexibility, and the ability to act on your own initiative are also essential.

We are able to offer a small annual payment and a gift of CUP books. The Social Media Editor will be recognised on Editorial Board page and in marketing about the journal. 

Tenure

Starting as soon as possible for a one-year term.
