In response to the madness caused by hashish as cited in the article

Matt D Smith, n/a
01 June 2011

I am very interested to hear on any further research, the dates coveredof 1895 - 1923 are interesting but the topic becomes especially interesting after the dates of the 1924 league of nations conference on the oriental opium problem held in Austria. And the subsequent Act of 1928making hashish illegal. It seems from my own research that since 1928, whenyour average Egyptian should not be smoking hashish, the insnity rate rose inexorably. Would the author like to offer any comment on the fact when hashish was made illegal that this is what really influenced the crime figures associated with it and that the withdrawl of it, it could be theorised, was the reason that suddenly the insanity rate rose? Just possibly the hashish issue was actually subduing a certain percentage of the population from ever becoming insane? I would be interested to hear any balanced response to this theory with maybe a much wider, by years covered, view point. ... More
