The paper is a multi-institutional, international review of the problems related to the creation, characterisation, and mitigation of the strong electromagnetic pulses produced by the interaction of high-power, high-energy laser pulses with different types of solid target.
This special issue collects extended versions of selected contributions presented at the Twelfth and Thirteenth Workshops on Logical and Semantical Frameworks with Applications (LSFA 2017 and LSFA 2018, respectively).
This thematic collection aims at stimulating research in the domain and creating a forum for debating on this emerging and very vibrant phenomenon. High quality scientific contributions are required to set up the knowledge baseline of open source hardware design an contribute to its development and democratization.
Journal of Plasma Physics board member, Professor Roger Blandford, has been awarded The Shaw Prize in Astronomy 2020
Roger’s many profound contributions to theoretical astrophysics and his continuing originality and towering presence make him a worthy recipient of the 2020 Shaw Prize in Astronomy.
