Summary

Psychodynamic psychiatry makes a significant educational, scientific andtherapeutic contribution to contemporary psychiatry. Recent developments ingene–environment interaction, neuropsychoanalysis and the accumulatingevidence base for psychoanalytic therapies and their implications forpractice are reviewed.
