This first issue of 2017 brings two important novelties. Wil Hout, former co-editor with Carlos Closa, is stepping down from his post. The EPSR editorial team wants to recognize Wil’s formidable contribution. He has decisively added to the journal journey towards a top referential position in the discipline. Matt Qvortrup has been elected new co-editor from January 2017. We warmly welcome and wish him all the success in his work at the journal.

The second novelty concerns the editorial board whose members have reached the end of their mandate. In 2017, we will initiate the renewal in two stages. We sincerely thank those who have so generously contributed to the development of the journal. At the same time, we warmly welcome the new members who include former co-editors Donatella della Porta and Guy B. Peters. The editorial board will reflect a balanced gender composition and will equilibrate the presence of different sub-areas and epistemological traditions of political science.
