In this special issue we welcome a forum on transregional law that looks at the movements of law in the Indian Ocean in the era of the British Empire. The forum begins with an introductory essay by its organizers, Renisa Mawari and Iza Hussin and concludes with an afterword by Engseng Ho. In between are five essays that examine law's travels in various directions across colonial and imperial contexts, tracing law's interactions with religion and commerce along the way.
