Joni is a native of New York who holds a nursing diploma, Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Sciences, Masters Degree in Nursing and board certification in peri-anaesthesia nursing. She has clinical, education and management experience in all aspects of anaesthetic care delivery and has practised with a university-based anaesthesia medical group involved in pain treatment research, chronic pain management and interventional pain treatment procedures. She serves on the American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses’ Board of Directors and was its Breathline Editor from 2006 to 2012. Joni authors the ‘Global Connections’ column for the Journal of PeriAnesthesia Nursing and regularly publishes peri-anaesthesia nursing manuscripts and book chapters. She serves as the British Anaesthetic and Recovery Nurses Association International Representative and is a founding committee member for the first International Conference for Perianesthesia Nurses in 2011. As a former nomadic military family member, Joni has lived in Asia, North America and Europe over the past two decades and currently resides in the United States in the Washington, DC area.
