On p. 13 of the online version of this article, the sentence “During our visit to Gwadar, we noticed city residents and even government functionaries being subjected to demeaning questioning by Chinese soldiers” should have read:

“During our visit to Gwadar, we noticed city residents and even government functionaries being subjected to demeaning questioning by Pakistani soldiers.”
