Abstract

In this issue of APT Mountain & Shah seek to reconcilethe currently fashionable ‘recovery’ paradigm of mental healthcare with thedistinctly unfashionable ‘medical model’ of psychiatric practice. I arguethat their article raises more questions than it answers – not least whetherthe recovery concept is amenable to empirical analysis.
