The authors apologise for an error in their article.

On page 5 of the article, it reads ‘“Production revenue” from combustion engines is invested in the production capacity for non-renewable energy sources, then both the links to energy system pressures and geopolitical tensions potentially no longer hold.’ This is incorrect and instead it should read ‘renewable energy sources’.

The authors wish to correct this error through this notice.
