This volume contains papers from the symposium on “Materials for Biosensor Applications” of the XXIII International Materials Research Congress, which was held on the 19th of August, 2014 in Cancun, México. The symposium covered several recent efforts from researchers in México, the United States, the United Kingdom, Brazil, and other countries to develop novel materials for use in biosensors. We would like to thank the leadership of the International Materials Research Congress for inviting us to host the symposium. Furthermore, we would like to recognize the efforts of the reviewers and the proceedings paper contributors, without whom this volume would have not been possible. We hope that this volume becomes a useful resource to the academic and industrial biosensor communities and that it signifies the leadership of International Materials Research Congress in this emerging area.
