In this issue of the journal, in addition to research articles, book reviews, a response to a review, and an obituary, I draw your attention to a roundtable guest edited by Shabnam Holliday and Edward Wastnidge, “The Islamic Republic of Iran and International and Regional Orders.” This roundtable—planned long before the US/Israel-instigated war began—is an apt reminder of the importance of understanding how Iran is regionally and internationally situated. The current hostilities have made the need for analysis and debate among Iranian Studies scholars even more vital and urgent.
During this difficult time, the editorial board—comprising the Deputy Editor, Associate Editors, and Book Review Editors—has redoubled efforts to sustain the work of colleagues affected by the war, some of whom have been unable to communicate with us. Where possible, generous colleagues have stepped in as proxies to complete the revision and copyediting process. Nonetheless, we remain constrained by the very technological advances that facilitate the publishing of our journal. We are working with Cambridge University Press to find solutions. In the meantime, we renew our commitment to the journal and hope for better days ahead.
