Summary

Account book (compotus) of Nicholas of Tickhill, the king's clerk of works at the palace of Westminster and the Tower of London, for his expenditure on building works at Westminster, the Tower and the king's mews at Charing Cross.

Physical description: Book of 123 parchment folios; in good condition and wholly legible.

Provenance: Strayed out of the crown records and held in private ownership until acquired by the Public Record Office (now The National Archives), in Dec. 1956.1

Scope of transcription: Entries relating to building works in St Stephen's chapel, the chapel of St Stephen by the Receipt, and the houses of the king's chaplains and clerks in the palace of Westminster.
