Summary

Counter-roll of John of Broughton, controller of the king's works at the palace of Westminster and the Tower of London, for his expenditure on building works at Westminster. Entries cover the period between Wednesday, 14 Feb. 1336, and Sunday, 10 Aug. 1337, within Exchequer years 10–11 Edward III.

Physical description: A roll of eight membranes, sewn end-to-end; the first membrane stained down the left-hand side and some staining on m. 5, but otherwise in good condition and wholly legible. Additional heading, acting as a label, appears on m. 1d.

Scope of transcription: Entries relating to ‘the chapel’ (either St Stephen’s, the chapel of St Stephen by the Receipt, or another).
