Summary

Counter-roll of John of Broughton, controller of the king's works at the palace of Westminster and the Tower of London, for his expenditure on building works at Westminster and the king's mews at Charing Cross. This roll runs in parallel with E 101/470/15 (no. 26), which is concerned solely with St Stephen's chapel.

Physical description: A roll of five membranes sewn end-to-end; m. 1 is stained and the ink faded in places, but mostly legible; the rest of the roll is in reasonably good condition and wholly legible. Additional heading, acting as a label, appears on m. 1d.

Scope of transcription: The chapel of St Stephen by the Receipt, the masons’ lodge and the chambers of the king's chaplains have been included, all within the period 4 July to 30 Sept. 1334.
