Summary

Particulars of account of William Herland, king's carpenter, of his receipts and expenses in the making of the stalls for St Stephen's chapel. The heading gives the year 25 Edward III (1350–51), which is the date of the earliest entries, but they continue into 1352–53. The treasurer at the time covered by the account (William of Edington) is described here as a former holder of that office (m. 1), so the compilation of the roll must postdate his move to become chancellor in Nov. 1356.

Physical description: A roll of three membranes, sewn end-to-end; in reasonably good condition and wholly legible; two small annotations on m. 3d.

Scope of transcription: Transcribed in full.
