Summary

Account roll of William de Chaillou, the king's clerk of works at Westminster and the Tower of London, for his expenditure on building works in St Stephen's chapel.

Physical description: A roll of five membranes, sewn end-to-end; top right-hand corner torn, but with no loss of text, otherwise in good condition and wholly legible. Additional heading on m. 1d, acting as a label when roll is rolled up.

Scope of transcription: Transcribed in full.

Collated roll:

E 101/468/3, the counter-roll of Robert de Pippeshull, controller, for the same works.

Physical description: A roll of five membranes sewn end-to-end; all five membranes are torn down the right-hand side and mm. 1–2 are both stained, with some loss of text; mostly legible; partially legible heading on m. 1d, acting as a label when rolled up.
