Summary

Folios 51r–58r contain documents relating to quit-rents. The red-ink heading at the top of f. 51r is “Quiet’ reddit’ – perquisita de heredibus Simonis de Berkyng”, and thereafter each verso has the red-ink heading “General’ fact’” and each recto has “quieti redditus”.

Testamentum Ade de Sancto Albano [28 February 1289]

Die lune proxima post diem Cinerum anno regni regis Edwardi filii regis Henrici decimo septimo probatum fuit testamentum Ade de Sancto Albano junioris, ferronarii London’, quo ad articulos laicum feodum tangent’. In quo continetur quod idem Adam legavit Isabelle uxori sue domum suam cum pertinenciis quam inhabitabat in parochia de Colcherche & unam marcatam annui & quieti redditus quam habuit in Ismongerlane de dimissione Johannis de Chese, habend’ & tenend’ eidem Isabelle ad totam vitam suam. Et post ejus decessum vult quod predicta domus & predicta marca annui redditus descendat Ricardo filio suo etc. Item, legavit Ricardo filio suo unam shopam cum pertinenciis quam habuit apud Conductum ex dimissione Henrici de Evere juxta shopam Sewalli piscatoris. Item, legavit Beatrici filie sue viginti solidi annui liberi & quieti redditus quas habuit in Soperslane ex dimissione Willelmi de Manhale. Item, legavit Matild’ filie sue viginti solidatas annui liberi & quieti redditus quas habuit in Soperslane ex dimissione ejusdem Willelmi.

Sciant presentes & futuri quod ego Ricardus de Sancto Albano, clericus, dedi, concessi & hac presenti carta mea confirmavi Willelmo de Leyre, civi London’, triginta solidatas annui liberi & quieti redditus percipiendas annuatim terminis debitis & consuetis de tenementis subscriptis in parochia Sancti Pancracii London’ in venella Soperslane, videlicet de quadam shopa cum pertinenciis quondam Johannis Le Botoner in eadem venella que scita est inter shopam Laurencii de Thorley, bladarii, ex parte australi & shopam Richeri de Refham ex parte aquilonari, tresdecim solidos & quatuor denarios per annum. Et de quadam shopa Roberti Le Callere cum pertinenciis in eadem venella que sita est inter shopam Roberti Callere ex parte australi & shopam Johannis Le Botoner ex parte aquilonari quatuor solidos per annum.
