Mr Ash his lease of 6 messuages &c. [5 September 1652]

This indenture made the fift day of September in the yeare of our Lord God one thousand six hundred fifty and two Betweene Francis Ashe, esquire, cittizen and goldsmith of London, of the one parte and Sir John Wollaston, knight and alderman, Thomas Noell, alderman, James Sherley, John Stanley, Edward Vaghan, Thomas Smithes, Francis Hall, John Perryn, Richard Morrell, William Gibbon, William Scarborough, John Gillibrand, Samuel Moore, and George Snell, cittizens and goldsmiths of London of the other parte, Witnesseth that for and in consideracion of the summe of five shillings of lawfull money of England to him, the said Francis Ashe by the said Sir John Wollaston, Thomas Noell, James Sherley, John Stanley, Edward Vaghan, Thomas Smithes, Francis Hall, John Peryn, Richard Morrell, William Gibbon, William Scarborough, John Gillibrand, Samuel Moore, and George Snell before the sealing hereof well and truely payd, the receipte whereof hee doth hereby acknowledge, hee the said Francis Ashe hath graunted, bargained, sold, demised, and to farme letten and by these presents doth graunte, bargaine, sell, demise, and to farme lett unto the said Sir John Wollaston, Thomas Noell, James Sherley, John Stanley, Edward Vaghan, Thomas Smithes, Francis Hall, John Perryn, Richard Morrell, William Gibbon, William Scarborough, John Gillibrand, Samuel Moore, and George Snell all that old messuage or tenement with the appurtenances now in the occupacion of Thomas Nettles, and all those five messuages or tenements with the appurtenances lately erected and new built by the said Francis Ashe and now in the severall occupacions of John Rand, gent., Nicholas Parkes, Edward Bray, Edward Dordell, & William Morgan, each of five messuages consists of three storyes and an halfe above the cellers, and hath two roomes on a floore in each story, and a little yard lyeing behinde each messuage on the southside thereof. All which said messuages or tenements are situate, lyeing, and being betweene Shooe Lane and Fetter Lane in the parish of St Bridgett alias Bride of London on the southside of the Newstreet way there lately made by the Wardens and Comonalty of the Mistery of Goldsmithes of the citty of London and conteine in length from east to west seventy eight foote of assize little more or lesse, and in breadth at the west end from north to south forty seaven foote of assize little more or lesse, and at the east end one and forty foote of assize little more or lesse, and the said five messuages are standing upon parte of certaine gardens which together with the said old messuage and an other messuage which stood where some of the said five messuages now stand were heretofore in the occupacion of one William Urmstone.
