About the series:
Cambridge Elements in Genocide Studies publishes significant original research that offers new perspectives on key debates and innovative works that showcase the dynamism of the field. It welcomes country-specific and thematic approaches, from a broad range of disciplinary perspectives on the causes, the conduct, and the consequences of genocides, including the Holocaust. The series values contributions that elucidate the past and those that speak to the current moment, including the important issue of genocide prevention.
The series will publish high-quality original scholarships that present the latest developments in the field. It will focus on new findings across the spectrum of genocide studies, including the Holocaust, by giving authors the scope to consider both specific topics and their wider context. The series will offer a unique location to bring together contributions from across the breadth of the field, offering fresh insights and connections.
Series Editors:
Deborah Mayersen is a Senior Lecturer in International and Political Studies at the University of New South Wales Canberra and the Australian Defence Force Academy. Her research focuses on genocide prevention, understanding how the risk of genocide evolves over time, and specific genocides. Alongside her research, she regularly works with NGOs, governments, and community groups in the area of atrocity prevention.
Caroline Fournet is a Professor of Law at the University of Exeter. Her research builds upon her cross-expertise in international criminal law and human rights law and her inter-disciplinary interests to analyse genocide and international crimes. Her projects explore the use of forensic evidence in the prosecution of atrocity crimes as well as the aesthetics, senses, and sensibilities of such prosecutions.
Sarah Cushman is Senior Lecturer in History and Director of the Holocaust Educational Foundation at Northwestern University. She is the author of Women in Auschwitz (under contract with Indiana University Press), co-editor of the Routledge Handbook of Auschwitz Birkenau (forthcoming), and co-editor-in-chief of Holocaust Studies: A Journal of Culture and History. She sits on the Illinois Holocaust and Genocide Commission.
