An Overview of Parasitoids of African Lepidopteran Cereal Stemborers (Hymenoptera: Chrysidoidea, Ceraphronoidea, Chalcidoidea, Ichneumonoidea, Platygastroidea)

Abstract

Stemborers in Africa are attacked by a complex of about 120 species of hymenopteran parasitoids, including about 15 species which are either facultative or obligatory hyperparasitoids. Several dipteran parasitoids also attack stemborers. An overview of hymenopteran stemborer parasitoids is here presented by superfamily and family, giving numbers of genera and species involved, their biologies (where known) and distributions.

Résumé

Les foreurs de tiges en Afrique sont attaqués par un complexe d'environ 120 espèces d'hyménoptères parasitoïdes comprenant quelque 15 espèces qui sont des hyperparasitoïdes soit facultatifs, soit obligatoires. Plusieurs parasitoïdes des diptères attaquent aussi des foreurs de tiges. Une vue d'ensemble des hyménoptères parasitoïdes des foreurs de tiges est présentée ici par superfamille et famille, donnant des nombres des genres et des espèces en cause, leurs biologies (si elles sont connues) et leurs distributions.
